Top 100 Music Videos (20-11)

The last installment of 10, hope you're still following (: These videos were all competitors to my top 5. Exciting times.

20. Korn - Twisted Transistor
This video was possibly one of the best ideas ever in the music industry. The members of korn are played by Snoop Dogg, Xzibit, Lil' Jon and David Banner (They're all rappers, if you don't know).

19. The Automatic - Monster
Sorry but the beginning is missing on this one, this was the only version I could find. Classic song, good video.

18. Fall Out Boy - Sugar We're Going Down
This has always been one of those videos that made me feel all tingly, for some reason...

17. Good Charlotte - Girls and Boys

16. Taking Back Sunday - Sink Into Me
This man (coincidentally called Adam) has sex appeal.

15. Feeder - Just a Day

14. Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal

13. The All-American Rejects - Gives You Hell
Aw, friendly competition (: against yourself?! Loving the arguement bit.

12. The All-Ameican Rejects - Move Along
:o Two in a row?! the whole shirts thing is awesome though.
11. Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth
I really like the contrasts presented in this video...And the guitar solo bit :p

Top 100 Music Videos (30-21)

30. Madonna - Die Another Day
Yes, I know. I don't like this because it's Madonna, I like the fight scene because it's awesome.

29. You Me At Six - Save it for the Bedroom

28. Michael Jackson - Thriller
Gonna be blunt here, MJ's death didn't effect my view towards him in anyway. I just want to say that it was on my list (in the same place) BEFORE he snuffed it :)

27. Pendulum - Slam
For the intro if nothing else.

26. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Can't Stop
This video is so random. Love it. Hate them.

25. The Offspring - Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)

24. Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Dani California

23. Muse - Knights of Cydonia
Admittedly, I thought this video would be a lot higher on my list. Oh well :p

22. MC Hammer - Can't Touch This
Another classic. Hammer's moves are amazing, and that's all you need to know. This video was REALLY hard to get and the best version I found had the ending missing :(

21. 30 Seconds to Mars - From Yesterday
Ahhh, didn't expect to see them again, did you? With a sword fight as intense as this, I'd have been crazy to miss it.

Top 5 Songs (week starting 10/08/09)

This week, all five of my songs are from my new warped tour album. However, this WONT last. I got my new phone today (will post about it tomorrow) which allows me to have unlimited music downloads. Expect things to get seriously mixed up.

5. Institution - Pour Habit
This song provides the hectic pace and almost random beats you'd expect for a song called institution, and has an amazing guitar solo to boot. Nice.

Can't even find any lyrics to this :P

4. Come Around - Sing it Loud
Ahh, another lovey-dovey song (kind of) about a guy asking a girl to "come around". I don't really know why these tunes really attract me so much :s However, it's a cool song. Standard.

Good Lyrics:
"i'm all tied up
and i'm trying my best to get down
come on girl
come around, come around
i'll wait up all night just to see you move "

3. Friends in the Armed Forces - Thursday
Thursday are an amazing band. I used to be really into a song by them called "tomorrow I'll be you." To be honest, this song isn't AS good, but I've been listening to it all week, it's just something about their style that gets me...

Good Lyrics:
"There's a purple heart on the stars and stripes tonight"

2. America Underwater - Lovehatehero
The intro tune had me on this one. It sort of turns into some kind of anthem from there on, it's hard to explain. In that sense, it kind of draws you in with these "words of wisdom."
Long story.

Good Lyrics:
"On my own
Never been more afraid to leave
Our love has gone
Hand in hand, and we'll sing this song
We've lost our homes
It's only gonna get better
If we work as one
Tomorrow can be brighter for us all"

1. Eva the Carrier - A Skylit Drive
This is the most powerful song on my list and I still haven't decided if the singer is a boy or a girl (I'm leaning towards boy). Maybe it's both. . . Anyway, it's pretty much the only song in the list where I actually WANTED to listen to what they were saying and didn't just listen along for the sake of it. Doesn't say a lot for this week's list does it?

"I would like to inform you that I have lost to my worst enemies
Try to live frozen in time
Eva! Eva!
Break all of my will to survive
Eva! Eva!
It seems to me that you have something to prove

It's your time to own up to the false foundation under my arm
Pictures bring clarity to what it's meant to be

Going that last mile
Now that isn't your smile

You mustn't open your mind to what you believe
Please tell me that this is for real
Won't you shine your light on me?
Don't say that you want me
Please tell me that this is for real
I just might say someday
I could be better off in your mind

Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you
Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you alive
Come sit next to me
Can you see into my mind?

Going that last mile
Now that isn't your smile

You mustn't open your mind to what you believe
Please tell me that this is for real
Won't you shine your light on me?
Don't say that you want me
Please tell me that this is for real
I just might say someday
I could be better off in your mind

Smile forward
I've been trapped in the fiction of a fraud
It isn't over until I get what I deserve
It's what I deserve

You mustn't open your mind to what you believe
Please tell me that this is for real
Won't you shine your light on me?
Don't say that you want me
Please tell me that this is for real
I just might say somedayI could be better off in your mind"

INTERESTING FACT: People seem to think this song is based on Wall-e (What the fuck?)

Progress

I have to admit, I feel like I've made a lot of progress in the last few months. I mean I used to be some paranoid, arrogant, worrier. Now I'm barely ever paranoid, I don't really worry much anymore (by following the "if it happens, it happens" law) and OK, I'm still kinda arrogant...

Until very lately, I used to be a bit of a worrier about relationships. Recent events have caused me to be pretty laid back about them though. I'd much rather wait for someone who's sure about me than someone who lies.

My fears used to be pretty bad, spiders and heights. However, about a month back, a made a step forward in my fight against heights, at the top of a climbing frame. All I did was look down and decide that all I had to do was trust myself, and I did. I'm not sure how but this obviously effected my fear of spiders too. I mean, I actually had one hanging off of my hand the other day...

Another sign of progress: I decided to stop doing the Watford "fing" and start pronouncing the letters "th" properly. Took me a few weeks but I'm pretty much perfect at it now (:

I really don't know if my friends have noticed these changes in me at all. They must have noticed some change because my friendships seem to be much smoother now. Well, that's all I wanted to say. Ciao.

Top 100 Music Videos (40-31)

40. Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends
Note: I hate this band.

39. Beck - Sexxlaws
This video is so weird, it's great!

38. Eagles of Death Metal - I Want You So Hard
I remember when this video first came out, and everyone was like "Oh my god! Jack Black's the barman!!!" Well, no one told me that Dave Grohl (who is SO much cooler) is the guy sitting at the bar.

37. Fightstar - Mercury Summer

36. Panic! at the Disco - I Write Sins Not Tragedies
Moral of this story: Life is a circus.

35. Ash - Burn Baby Burn
I love this video because it practically shows you everything you'll ever see in american high school films: Basketball and cheerleaders.

34. Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
Good "boy meets girl" story for you =D

33. Reuben - Deadly Lethal Ninja Assassin
Anyone on the ball enough to remember would know that this video was originally in the 70s of my list. Proof that Rock > Science.

32. Audioslave - Cochise
I like anything involving explosives. This is like a wet dream to me.

31. Escape the Fate - Situations
Where is that school??? I'd love for Ronnie to show me around on my first day of school :p

Also, don't you think at the start Ronnie looks like the guy from the mighty boosh???

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 03/08)

Has been a longgg week. Am glad to get these up (: Four of these are from my new warped tour album and the other is from another warped tour album, anyone who can guess without looking it up will get a prize (GUESS!). By the way, I've taken to putting my favourite favourite lines in bold :p

5. Let the Games Begin - Anarbor
This song came up pretty late in the week, which is why it's at the back. Is another of those cocky songs about people who think they can "get it", like my favourite song. Unlike my favourite song, this guy actually is getting it, even though the girl has a boyfriend :s (I have my suspicions about the guy in "the new black", my interperetation is that he just thinks he's cool, like me :p

Good Lyrics:
"It's a game, she's to blame
But who's keeping score?
I'm not in it to win
You can tell by my grin
That I've done this before
So let the games begin
Yeah, let the games begin "

4. We Both Know - Ivoryline
This was the first song I got hooked on from my new warped tour album, right from the first line. I was originally a bit iffy about the chorus, but I got into it quite quickly. not many lyrics because it was more about the attitude conveyed by the vocals and instruments :)

Good Lyrics:
"We both know you can't plan
Something as real as this
It takes more than plans to feel like this"

3. Pessimist - Tat
I love this song because it's so delightfully blunt. Probably one of the punkiest songs to hit my list in a long time. The lyrics are probably the best part of this song, so expect to read quite a few of them (:

Good Lyrics:
"A pessimist you can call me I'll be round,
To bring you down.
My friendship's overrated I've been crowned,
Queen for letting you down.
Give me your heart I'll give it back,
All battered and torn.
Cos' every silver lining has it's cloud,
Can I be yours?"

"[Chorus]
And I'll Sit on your face and say,I love you
And leave you the next day,
For someone who owes you,
And you...
Put you trust in me,
To discover no less than a twist in sobriety.
And when you need me the most,
I'll be pissed off my face or stoned and I'll be loving it.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah,
You can count on me,
Yeah."

"Here I am you prized and weighted catch,
I've been found faulty.
Just give me a chance I'll stab you in the back,
Please put your trust in me.
I am the itch you can't scratch,
Here try this dagger.
Put your trust in me,
Put your trust in me,
Put your trust in me,
Put your trust in me."

2. My Mannequin Can Dance - Matchbook Romance
This WAS the hot favourite for number one on my list. I started off this week in quite a spiteful mood before settling back into my better "holiday" mood. This song suited that mood very well, not because it's a spiteful song, just because some of the lines were exactly what I wanted to hear. Good lyrics, good tune, good song.

Good Lyrics:
"We're all eyes
And in my personal opinion
If we're not all you were hoping for
When you say my name
Say it like a curse"

"I saw your face in the magazine saying "I can't hear it"
All the girls all glittered and glossed
Screaming "we can feel you", can you feel me?
We'll die if we're not
In a corpse of conscience
Lie
These lies live a life
But don't lie to me"

"You're just chasing shadows
Show us some heart and confess your sins
We'll sing with arms closed
And you can tear us apart 'cause you won't break the skin

Just put on your face and..."

"I would love nothing more in the world
Than to watch you as you spill your guts. "

1. Two Birds Stoned at Once - Chiodos
Chiodos' third appearance on my list I believe. Quite impressive, because I only have three songs by them :) This song had me hooked from the start with some fairly epic violins, then unhooked me with some lovely screaming. I returned to the song a few days later and listened to it the entire way through, and it has some AMAZING lines. Chiodos always grab me with their songs because their style is like nothing else that I have. Awesome.

"so, here i am again.
both of my eyes so, open wide and gleaming.
blank stares, with races running only an inch behind.
sit back and watch the pavement get closer as it aims for your face.
as it aims for your face.

so step back, let me take over.
step back, let me take over.

can you hear the silhouettes?
the slim and dark figures.
rising like giants out of the shadows.
they're crawling out.
they're crawling out of our skin.

here i am again.
we build ourselves, where monsters used to hide.

so step back, let me take over.
so step back, let me take over.

and we're all whores, some of us just get paid.

oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity,
my feelings crawl the walls,
they crawl the walls, and finally fall,
they finally fall,
like empires and old loves.

can you hear the silhouettes?
the slim and dark figures,
rising like giants out of the shadows,
they're crawling out,
they're crawling out of our skin

(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)"

Poker (with added blinds!)

I haven't posted in a while mainly because I've been arranging today. It was Karolina's idea, and I liked it, so I got onto the regulars, stat (James, Eleanor and Tom). This was all very well and good, but I was fully aware that I didn't have a sixth person. I decided to ask Chris, my old primary school buddy, turns out that he used to watch it on TV all the time. Sorted.

So the match was arranged. Our players were:
  • Adam "The Showman" Batchelor
  • "The Pro" James Ellwood
  • Eleanor "Pokerface" Goodman
  • Tom "Call" Black
  • "The Addict" Chris Green
  • and Karolina "Stealth" Malinowski.

So the game started, not so well for me. Tom, Eleanor and James started to run away with it all and I quickly ran into trouble, falling to an average of 13-20 chips. While I was struggling for survival Chris started to crawl back and Tom fell into calling ridiculously obvious hands (hence the nickname "call"). This fully distracted me from Eleanor's sudden downfall, she'd had a few straights and flushes and I don't think anyone saw it coming. Alas, she couldn't hang on and crashed out of the game. This made things easier for me because I could never tell if she was bluffing or not.

The blinds (minimum bet before cards are put on the table for those who don't know) were at 30/60 now and Tom looked like he was in trouble. Chris and myself had made almost full recoveries (I had to go all in twice) and were ready to make the kill, I can't remember who actually finished him off...The blinds hit 50/100 and things really started to speed up. James, who until then was in the money, started to lose a lot of hands and took a huge loss to me, leaving him with only three chips. Suddenly the splits struck, and a win by him took only 12 chips from the huge pot. The rest came to me, he was taken out in the next hand.

At this point I was panicking. Even though I was comfortably in the cash, I had no idea how Chris and Karolina played. Also, I couldn't see most of Karolina's chips from where I was sitting so I had no idea how well she was doing. A few big hands later and Chris was all in against me and Karolina, Karolina took the pot.
Now I knew I had a problem, Karolina was a very good poker player. I hadn't noticed her until half the players were out of the game (hence the nickname "stealth"), and I knew that there was every chance that she could win. The blinds hit 400/800 during Chris' last hand. I was in a comfortable position now, because I love to raise by 1,000 at the end of a hand (hence my nickname). I lost a few and won a few against Karolina and things seemed quite even, until I started getting lucky. It only took a few hands, it could have gone either way with the blinds, but today was my day.
After poker, we all settled down for a few Mario kart tourneys. I knew Tom would be some trouble but didn't expect Karolina to be so good, just didn't realise that she actually played games I guess. I scraped the win in the first tourney, sat out so Chris could play the second (which Tom won). The third tourney was tough. Tom won the first race with me just behind him and I took the second race with similar conditions. For the third race I chose a track that truly hates me, to mix things up a bit. I came ninth, Tom came fourth. It was already decided that Bowser's Castle would be last track, which luckily i know like the back of my hand. I came just in front of James and Tom came sixth. Good competition, I'm sure I won't be so lucky next time I play them.

I'll upload the rest of the pics to Facebook ASAP.
