2011

That's two days away.

Ultra Culture Cinema #5!

I have currently been up for 20 hours. But the truth is, if I don't blog about tonight now I never will, so let's just be thankful I couldn't afford more alcohol.

Long story short, I went to the ICA for Ultra Culture Cinema 5. My story will consist of various pieces of multimedia because honestly, I'm far too lazy to paint the pictures in words. If you don't know who Ultra Culture are by now, you clearly don't know me well enough. But I guess if you still don't know, all you need to know is that I stopped reading film magazines the second I laid eyes on their glorious blog. 'Nuff said.

So, yeah, I went to see a film at their christmas shindig, a film which I'd been keeping track of since sometime in August: Catfish.

Amazing how these things come together, am I right?

Upon arrival, we were greeted with Ultra Culture's awesome hospitality, where they were giving the crowd hats, badges and bottles of milk? I don't know, but it was pretty cool. Then the fun began. Our mighty leader, Charlie addressed us, asking us what the 2 themes of Catfish were. Eight year olds, facebook and art all came up, but apparently Mr Lyne was looking for "long distance relationships", in which the couple had never met before, almost like a blind date. This ensued:

...Yeah. Oh, and then Santa turned up! I don't actually have any pictures to prove this, but I will inevitably steal it from some other blog post when I get the chance. He gave out many kind presents, such as Four Christmases, Home alone 1 and 2, and National Lanpoon's christmas vacation! Charlie also took great care in announcing that he would be handing copies of Lesbian Vampire Killers to the first 48 people who got to the bar after our film viewing. Not quite sure if this is a good thing or not.

Then we watched the film, I'm not going to synopsise it or anything for you, because you're on the internet, youtube's just across the street. I wont deny anything, it was amazing. go watch it.

Then we hit the bar! Here's a picture of Tom proudly showcasing his free copy of Lesbian Vampire Killers!:
FUN FACT: we were actually so early to the bar we had to backtrack to get our free stuff!

I guess not much else happened, we got some drinks in and I shamelessly stalked Charlie from our corner:
If it's not clear which member of the crowd he is in the picture I will (and did) quite happily point him out for you:
And again:
Two hours into this, we decided to call it a night. We were going to thank Charlie for such an amazing night, but he was having too much fun by the decks in between piss breaks. So we left him to it.Thanks Charlie. Bye Charlie.

Okay, now it's really late, so I'm basically just going to document my journey home in pictures and/or video without making any input at all.

G'night all.

Learning to read.

Instinctively, that is.

I NEED to read, it keeps my head working properly, it stimulates my imagination and in a lot of ways it makes me a better person. So I've had an idea. It's well known that a lot of my thinking will somehow come down to a deck of cards, if you haven't noticed yet, it can't be too far off. So here it is: I'm going to assign each book (or series of books that I read from now on with a card. I already use cards as bookmarks so it's not really changing much. But my challenge is to have a full deck within a year. Doesn't sound too bad, does it?

My first book is The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, it's card is the king of hearts. It's the first book in a trilogy, so as long as I can latch onto the second book relatively quickly, finishing these books wont be too much of a problem. You want a short review? It's pretty good.

Remember the reading list I published a while back? I haven't actually finished any of the books on it yet, which shows how much I really need this. It's good for my writing too, which is good news for you guys. At least the guys who are left.

Although, there's nothing wrong with a new beginning.

Reboot.

Okay, I've neglected my blog lately, yeah. Deal with it, because it's all back.

And you know what, nothing in my life would really look great on this post. I've not been doing much other than college. I can tell you all about viscous drag or logarithms if you like though.

But yeah, if you think you're missing out. You really aren't.

However, things wont be quiet for much longer, starting on the 16th, I have a trillion and one plans (lasting right up until the 1st). Starting with Catfish and ending with Edgar (<3), it's gonna be a hell of a ride. Oh yeah, and apparently something called "Christmas" is going on too, don't really get what that is...

Okay

Maybe tomorrow.

Holy robot pandas Batman, a blog post!

Dear Blog,

I'm sorry, I haven't spoken to you for nearly a month. I hope you can eventually bring yourself to forgive me. I want you to understand that I was venturing out alone into a new part of the world, of my life, and I didn't want to immediately turn back on that and run back home. I didn't forget you. I would never forget you.

That sounded so much sadder than it was supposed to. I've just been super busy, I'll talk some more tomorrow. If i don't, you have the right to deep fry my lungs, then serve them with a light salad and mushroom sauce...Mmmm.

Until then, my half hearted fellowship!
