Breaking the silence.

Okay, a lot's happened over the past week and a bit, most of it's been rather unfortunate. I messed up on four out of five of my AS exams, here's what I got:

Media: U
English: E
Biology: E
Maths: D
Further Maths: B

As per usual, my highest grade was from the exam I put the least effort in to, and I got the highest in the school for it (there were only three of us).

Swiftly moving on, I've decided to break the silence over something I've mentioned on my blog only once. It's not so much of a like, more of an obsession. Those who know me well enough already know that I'm about to say "today, I'm going to talk about Scott Pilgrim"

Today, I'm going to talk about Scott Pilgrim.
I'll try and give you an insight to the story line of the comic book series by quoting the synopsis of the first book.
"Scott Pilgrim's life is so awesome. He's 23 years old, in a rock band, "between jobs," and dating a cute high school girl. Everything's fantastic until a seriously mind-blowing, dangerously fashionable, rollerblading delivery girl named Ramona Flowers starts cruising through his dreams and sailing by him at parties. But the path to Ms. Flowers isn't covered in rose petals. Romona's seven evil ex-boyfriends stand in the way between Scott and true happiness. Can Scott beat the bad guys and get the girl without turning his precious little life upside-down? "
From reading that, I was already drawn in and NOTHING anybody said or will ever say has or will drag me away from these books. Ever.

I can name every character in that picture.

This year is huge for Scott Pilgrim for two reasons. The first is that the final book in the series is out in the summer, the second is that the film is also out this Summer, after the book (This also means a Scott Pilgrim soundtrack and masses of Scott Pilgrim merchandise!).

What else can I say? Scott Pilgrim is my PC wallpaper, wallpaper of my old mobile phone, It's soon to be my steam avatar soon. I follow the blogs of both Bryan Lee O'Malley (creator) and Edgar Wright (director). Which directs me to songs like this:

The Former Fatboys - Seven evil exes

And now that I've gotten this all out, I'm free to post random pictures stolen from Bryan Lee O'Malley's website with no questions asked ^.^ (you'll find the link down the side of my blog)

The Round Up

To be honest, I have no excuse for not posting for an entire week, it hasn't really been very eventful in anyone else's opinion, but full of paranoia and surprise for me...ish.

Monday to Wednesday consisted of me trying to stay awake, and occasionally failing. My free on Tuesday was used for sleep and the week wasn't looking too good for me. But then, by some miracle occurrence I managed to get a decent nights sleep and i was raring to go on Thursday. I stormed my lessons, taking no prisoners (for once). I can't really remember what happened on Friday, I imagine it was probably moderately important.

On the weekend (after finally getting up), I was kindly granted a 3 day pass to a game called Shattered horizon, just imagine any first person shooter in zero gravity and you're pretty much there. It's incredibly frustrating to get into, but worth it when you finally kill someone. So yeah, I've been either asleep or raging at stuff. I wonder what will happen this week...

Progress review day

It's basically a day off school where you go into school for 15 mins to have your progress reviewed (I hate anything that includes being somewhere for a shorter time than it took you to travel there and back). But you guys know me by now, I follow themes pretty heavily, today is about reviewing my progress, so review my progress I shall.

Socially, everything's sort of come together in the past week. I feel 100% accepted (instead of the shocking 95% before) and a friendship I thought would never be mended, have mended (took a lovely two years mind). Everything's cool. However, I still think that most of my social skills are a wreck, especially when someone's upset. But, where there's a will, there's a way I guess. Obviously all my friends are still awesome, especially those who read this.

The relationship scene is fantastic, I've not even thought about having a girlfriend since August and I feel so so great about it. I'm also hoping to host a "single for a year" party at some point in January (:

School's still good. Maths gets more exciting everyday (I'm serious) and I just started work on matrices. Matrices is the pluralisation of the word Matrix (cue lots of ridiculous movie quotes), either way, it's stupidly easy so far. I've had absoloutely no problem entering the matrix (bada boom) so I hope further pure maths stays that way, because decision maths is a cruel, uncaring bitch.

It's hard to review myself over a longer period of time, because I started this blog after most of my trouble finished up, and everything sort of repaired itself from there on. Well, that's a lie, I've lost a couple of people. Another lie: I know exactly where they went ^.^ Either way, I find that my biggest improvement over the past half year has been my development of the ability to just stand back sometimes. As a result I'm a lot more laid back and I get on with everyone a lot easier. I've also become very patient, and with my luck that's pretty much the best thing I can have :P

Oh, of course, I've got to review the progress of my blog. Well, I'm perfectly happy with 10 followers, even if a good percentage have forgotten all about this little adventure of mine. It hasn't been a little adventure though, it's been huge, and I love it. My readers, you've all proved your awesome, between you, you destroyed my little quote game, and I'm proud of you for that, top marks to you guys.

The future? I don't know: I'll post more lyric quotes whenever I make a new playlist and I'll give you guys more music vids and trailers and film clips or whatever. How about some more picturey stuff. Maybe some fine art if that's your thing? and obviously some more me.

Life grade: All round awesome but a tad rough around the edges ^.^

It's been a strange week...

That's becoming a bit of a catchphrase for me now, I must say it every Friday. However, this week is definitely up there in levels of strange, the good kind of strange. I'll get straight to it: admittedly, Monday was pretty normal, I'll give it that. Tuesday will need a new paragraph though.

On Tuesday, the entire sixth form had to go to an all day assembly called "human utopia". It was basically about us making the most out of life by getting into "the panic zone". It was fairly interesting, but the thing is that I think it came a few weeks too late. One of the activities was to bring people who didn't know each other together, which I did last week. Another was to stand up if we were bullied and say why. This activity was more like a year late, because since January, I've been working through it all with myself and it's not really been a problem. The thing is, the day did effect a lot of people, including my best friend. What makes it even worse is that I really didn't know what to do. I used to be a guy that could solve pretty much anything and always knew what to say, but that was for some kind of knowledge. Since then, I chose friends over knowledge and my amazing problem solving skills just disappeared, but at the same time so did my problem creating skills, I prefer things this way. It was then and there I truly realised how bad my social skills were, they REALLY need to be improved...

Wednesday was university preview day over in Portsmouth: I was there. The plan was originally to go and see a talk on Biology, a talk on Media production, a talk on Maths and a talk on Accommodation and finance. We got there late, so that was biology out of the window. The talk on Media Production was amazing: the university actually owns a TV station so that students can run it for the course. That wasn't the part I was interested in though, I wanted to direct. Some of the footage shown was amazing, they had won so so many awards. It's set that if I ever want to do media production, I'm going to Portsmouth. That was the only talk I went to in the end, apparently I didn't miss anything with biology and maths though, I'll go look for those elsewhere. After that we went to explore the local shopping area, which is pretty much just clothes and a line of restruants (literally), we found subway on the end of the line and ate there. It was an interesting day, running around a city I barely knew with nothing but a really rough map and a guy who shares my first name, it reminded me of my will that should help me find the way in life.

In a sense, Thursday was the strangest day of the week because it was set out to be a normal day. Obviously this didn't happen and I ended up spending ALL of my lessons in the sixth form study area because none of my teachers were available to teach my lessons at the right time. I also got my book, "How to win friends and influence people". But my album STILL hasn't arrived, some first class delievery...

Friday, today. Yesterday I found a message in my facebook inbox from callum asking if I wanted to go and see "Up" in 3d, I did. We had a normal school day and on the way home I got some cash out of the machine at tescos. A bit further up the road, James and myself saw a man using a golf club as a mimic guitar . . . while riding his bike! Anyway, I got home and sat down, replied to a text at 3pm and shut my eyes. At 5pm my mum woke me up. The strange thing was that the reply to my text came at about 5:10pm. Anyway, I got the cinema in time and as I met and greeted the ladies and gentlemen I'd be sharing my cinema viewing with, I spotted something out of the corner of my eye: it was only the one and only Emily Crye! I hadn't seen her since May (It was blogged), I spoke to her for a bit - further showing myself that my social skills were just plain bad - and then went back to the till to pay for my ticket. Or at least that's what I thought, because the ticket cost TEN POUNDS FORTY FIVE! Luckily, Aaron had some silvers. The film itself was good, I wouldn't call it 3d, just UHD (ultra-high definition). It made me laugh quite a lot, pixar films have always had that charming quality to them, and they're always original concepts (except maybe Nemo). I reccomend it, but maybe only the 2d version :P Afterwards I was offered a lift home by Aaron. It's a weird feeling having a friend who can drive, it's always something I imagined :P

So, thank you to Tom for keeping me company on the coach to portsmouth, Adam for keeping me company in media production, Ewan for keeping me company while everyone else went to games technology and on thursday, Rajiv for keeping me company on thursday and telling me the time of the cinema today, James for generally being a great mate, Callum, Daisy, Damaris and Aaron for a lovely cinema trip and lift home and most importantly Eleanor, for just being there.

7 Days and Counting (Rage)

Things have settled this week, and it has been unbelievably boring.

I tried to drop English, the people up top told me to stick with it and if I get an E, that's still 20 UCAS points, ok then...I hope the teachers see it that way.

Ummm, I think I should probably talk about films a bit more on here, seeing as they're a big percentage of what I think about. I was looking at a film called "rage" today, it looks quite interesting. Basically, the entire film is a series of one on one interviews set behind the scenes of a fashion week in New York (even though the majority of the cast is British), filmed as if being recorded through a mobile phone. The premiere was yesterday and the film's released on monday. The most interesting thing was that it was supposedly the first "interactive" film, because afterwards, a live broadcast was shown were viewers text/emailed/called in from the cinema to ask the cast and director questions. Check out the trailer:

Anyway, on to my main point. Anyone who knows me well enough will also know that my birthday is in seven days, and arranging a celebration is proving to be harder than expected. Truth be told, I wasn't really looking to celebrate in the first place, but everyone else wanted to, and who am I to deny them of that? As long as I actually get to relax, I really don't mind what happens...

Decisions

Today, I failed an assignment for the first time this year. My teacher was very reasonable about the entire thing and gave me an extra day to do it. I hear that if you fail an assignment in college, you're thrown off of the course. I'm beginning to feel like I've made the wrong decision.

Little under ten minutes ago, I realised that maybe A-level English wasn't a good idea. Even though I got an A for my coursework, I only got a C overall. Surely that means I got something like a D in the exam?

The truth is, it's just a basic research assignment, and I'm really struggling. It's just wasting time, now I'm behind on my maths because of it. Everyone around me has a plan of what they want to do in life, some kind of basic outline and what courses they're going to need...everyone except me. So I thought "Maths and English are the two main subjects, they'll look good on my results."

Maths isn't a problem for me, never has been, never will be, but English has always been "rocky" for me, to say the least. I can produce amazing things when given the time, and I have no problem with structuring my writing (otherwise this blog would be non-existant) but I just can't keep up. I mean i'm struggling with basic, basic research assignments, what the hell?

I don't like giving up, at all. Especially when there are people I know who give up straight away and waste their talent. I'm thinking along the lines of "know your limits", I don't want to push myself and get an average C in everything when I can drop a subject and get something like two As and a B. It seems like people are dropping subjects left, right and centre for really petty reasons, such as they "just don't like it". I like to think of myself as an intelligent person, but from here it looks like I've not made the clever decision. I want to go for deputy head boy, how can I do that if I'm going to drop a subject? I just don't know anymore

Obviously this failed assignment's going to set off alarm bells up at the top and my place on the course will be reviewed...I think I know what I want to do.

Early Morning Ramblings of a Late Night Guy

Just finished installing the essential essentials back onto my computer. You see, I wanted it to turn on way back on Friday, the computer disagreed. So today has been all about reinstalling things and playing Batman, which I completed about an hour ago ^.^

Also, my rabbit growled at me the other day, I was quite happy because it's the first noise I've ever heard her make, but then again I wasn't happy because she was being a stubborn cow. She's lovely though.

Things are still running on "mental" at the moment, sixth form is heavy stuff and I've not gone out since...monday, nevermind that bit. Oh yeah, on a less rambly and more important note, it's...12 days until my birthday and I STILL have no idea what to do. Obviously I want to see people, but it's hard to convince people to see you when you have no idea what to do...

Life and Times

Well, it's the name of the blog...and I've not really been focusing on my life lately. Time to bring you up to date.

First weeks of school are always really hectic, I didn't expect some kind of exception for sixth form. But there aren't normally as many pros, maybe it's because I have some kind of new positive mentality or something. Anyway, I've been hanging around new people, and it's been fun, I've not been bastardly antisocial about it. Although i've not enjoyed being taught by a few of my teachers in the past, I believe that I have a good variety of teachers so I can work to the best of my ability for all of them.

There hasn't been a top 5 songs this week, simply because I've not had time to listen to music ): But the good side of finishing my top 100 music videos is that I can post random videos whenever I please now (:

Also, I've started labelling my blog lately, I thought it was something that needed to be done. I'm also going to give it a makeover sometime after my 100th post (only three posts to go now!). Speaking of my 100th post, I've finally figured out how to celebrate it, more about that in the future (three posts from now to be exact :p).

I should be going out tomorrow (thank god) to see Emma. It is her birthday after all. It should be good.

So yeah, there you go, you're back up to date on the life of times of Adam.

All good things come to an end

Well, today is officially the last day of holiday, and I must say, it's been something.

Things haven't always gone smoothly for me during the holidays, and I've not let many people forget it. This one was different, simply in the sense that things actually happened.

I should probably start by saying that I lost a hell of a lot of friends (or should I say "friends"). The liars, the people who just knew me for a joke. That aside, I gained another best friend. That doesn't sound very important, but trust me, it's VERY hard to fully gain my trust in everything. To be honest, I think they're just as surprised as I am...in a good way of course.

But unfortunately, all good things come to an end. Most of my friends are here, but that doesn't mean I wont be missing seeing those that have gone to college and have jobs and everything. I have no idea how September will play out, that's how it is. I trust people to sort things out by themselves, I mean, a lot of people just drifted over the holidays but I just put that down to expired friendships. We'll see.

Omnia causa fiunt.

Catch up.

Today I had my interview to confirm my lesson choices for sixth form. Long story short, I'm in.

The Wednesday Lunchtime Post

Surprise! A post during the day! Wow!

Lately I've not been sleeping great and my alarm clock is malfunctioning (which doesn't help), so I've not been able to get up early enough to head into school and finalize my CV (references). I'm actually wishing I was tired so I can go to bed at a (fairly) reasonable hour.

In the past two days, my top 5 has taken a few dramatic twists, and this week could be the first time a song is posted THREE times!!! It's a shame, because I thought I had it sorted by Monday, but everything's gone a bit woooo.

I think this is week three of my holiday. To be honest I've totally lost count. Everyone's going on holiday now. Eleanor in Arizona, Karolina in Poland, Anna in Ireland. Billy's off to Turkey later as well. I was so glad when Emily came back from her walk for the Duke of Edinburgh thing, I think it'll be kinda cool to know someone with a silver award :)

So, what's next in my magical holiday experience? Things aren't going great at the moment, but I'm taking it all on the shoulder because I know I've got too much time to be bothered by little things. I hope it's just an iffy day...

Stay tuned for: The start of my top 100 music videos!!!

End of an Era

Yesterday was my last full day at Francis Combe School. I actually coped a lot better than I thought I would :p I didn't have a spare shirt for people to sign, so I used my bag instead. It was a nice relaxed day, and I got NEARLY every sign i wanted, but I missed out a person, and I feel terrible for doing so...

Had our last English exam earlier, I officially have only two subjects left (three exams)!

The next few months are going to be insane, I'm not really sure how I'm going to cope to be honest. I just hope that after the hectic dies down, I'm not just left on my own. BUT that's a while away and so I should stick in the present for now, today was amazing, and I have a plan to work on.

In other news: I still need a job.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's top 5!

School

  • It's one week today until my first exam.
  • My ICT coursework deadline is tomorrow.
  • I'm currently using a computer with a PINK screen.
  • I should be getting the new Madina Lake album this week.
  • Right now I should still be asleep.
  • I STILL haven't used a day for sleep (this is like, week 3).
  • I can't believe I still have three lessons left of today.
  • I have no lunch.
  • I should have been going to see Madina Lake on friday.
  • I have that terrible feeling that this is going to be another really stressful school week.

Today

Today, I decided to go and "steal" the sims from a friend, all it was was to copy the folders onto my external hard drive and run. BUT, three hours later, I'm still here...It's been pretty cool though, mario kart, sims, stufflings.

So yeah, now that the holidays are nearly over, it's probably time to give a review of how everything went:

Saturday 4th

Went to town with loads of friends (Tom, James, Eleanor, Michael and later Emily) to look for outfits for us. Naturally, it was a total disaster. But, on a scale of one to cool, it was an awesome day. Ended up at James' where i stayed till about 11pm.

Sunday 5th

It's a blur, I either went to Michael's or stayed in, either way i didn't have my amazing sunglasses because they had taken up residence at James' :(

Monday 6th

Went to Michael's, played games and stuff, the usual, good chillout session :)

Tuesday 7th

School: Yes, i know it's a holiday and everything, but i needed some serious catch up time, so i went in and did some english, turned into mess about session, awesome. Spent the rest of the day hiding down in art with Eleanor.

Wednesday 8th

More school: Was food tech today, teacher was late due to not waking up on time, like me :) So helped out my brother's form tutor by colouring stuff in and advising her on where to get a new pair of her awesome boots.

Thursday 9th

Moreeee Schooool: Food tech again, teacher got caught up in car accident today, she came back with a handful of pieces that had fallen off of her car, nice :) Although, I will miss the civic. R.I.P To the nice looking car. She'll be driving round in a TT till she gets the new one :p

Friday 10th

Went to town, mainly to HMV, bought the bourne identity for three quid once i'd figured out which was the first film in the series. Walked to town in rain, walked half way back and visited Tom (once i'd figured what number he lived at), until rain stopped. More good chilling time, well deserved. On the downside, i picked up some nasty blisters and my converses got REALLY wet :(

Saturday 11th

Poker! Today I hosted (again) James, Michael, Nicola and Tom, James won first game (I came third) and Nicola stormed second game, winning nearly every hand. Then we proceded to play jenga (the real tough people's game) and Nicola taught us how to play a new card game, which i won at :p. We then Trekked to James' in the rain (Michael's idea >:( ) and played monopoly, I won again :p then gave people a lift home and slept.

Sunday 12th

First day i really didn't have any plans, just sat around watching TV, most likely football :p

Monday 13th

Second day i didn't have plans, got back into audiosurf today.

Tuesday 14th

Now, i WAS going to go to school, but i went back to sleep and woke up again at about 2pm, so i decided against it.

Wednesday 15th

School again: Performing arts today, out of eight students, I was the ONLY person to come in :(, did lots of work though so I'm top of the class for once! Oh, yeah, and I started a blog :p

Thursday 16th

Even more school: More performing arts...more loneliness. Sigh.

Friday 17th

Last day of school!: IT and English today, got pestered by Ewan all of first IT session (was late so it wasn't long :P) then browsed through my awesome original writing story with Eleanor to check up on grammar to make it an A* (will post another time). Is the only A* I'll ever get in english so don't worry. Did more IT and went home.

Saturday 18th

Decided to go to James' so we could copy the sims 2 games that my idiot brother deleted. Still here now, and has just gone 10pm, as long as i get to see some lovely rupert and salem cats I'm happy (:

Sunday 19th

Am entering the relms of predicting the futuuuuuuuuuuuuure. I'm probably doing nothing.

So yeah, overall things have gone quite well for a holiday, and now i have this amazing blog, I can bore you all half to death about it :D.
