Cover Songs

It's been hella long time since I did a music post, and I understand that at least one of you yearns for one :P So, I'm going to talk about my favourite cover songs. You might wonder why I've chosen cover songs of all things, I was inspired to write about cover songs when I found a cover version of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face", by You Me At Six, which is pretty cool.

In preparation for this list of all list, I scoured my massive music library for about 10 mins, looking for all cover songs. The filtering didn't end there though, I then deleted the ones that aren't cool (in my opinion, obviously). Eventually, I had a playlist of about 16 songs, not the best number for a list. But I had another card to play: Nokia Music assigns albums to the songs I already have, sometimes they're different. One of the songs I found was assigned the album "punk goes pop", so I had a peek and downloaded. Once filtering the songs to my liking, I had the perfect number of 20 ^.^ Then I deleted five of them because they were crap (in my opinion).

Anyway, here's my list, I advise/order you to look them up:

15. Smooth Criminal - Alien Ant Farm
14. Feeling Good - Muse
13. Wannabe - Zebrahead
12. The 12 Days of Christmas - Relient K
11. Under Pressure - My chemical Romance & The Used
10. ...Baby One More Time - Bowling for Soup
9. Toxic - A Static Lullaby
8. Can't Take My Eyes Off You - The Ordinary Boys
7. Love Song - Four Years Strong (Sara Bareilles version, in case anyone knows of any different love songs :P)
6. When I Grow Up - Mayday Parade
5. Baby Got Back - Throw Down
4. Get Back - Sum 41 (Ludacris was in this version too, so technically it's a remix)
3. Bleeding Love - The Wombats
2. Poker Face - You Me At Six
1. Jamie All Over - Mayday Parade

Just to clear up, all of you Mayday Parade fanatic will now be in outrage, screaming at me because Jamie all over isn't a cover. BUT, Mayday Parade used to be two bands, and one of these two bands (called Kid Named Chicago) did this song first, making Jamie All Over a cover (or a half cover, as I like to call it ^.^).

So go, look them up. Do it now! Run!

Tat

Third post of the day (it doesn't happen often so enjoy it :p). Today I'm here to talk to you about the artists of one of my favourite songs: Tat.

As any of my following veterans know, Tat have been top of one of my missing lists and second in one of the not so missing lists, with their song, Pessimist. I got into researching them today after a spell of pessimism and Emily's marvellous quoting and perfect timing. The quote looks a little like this:

"Every silver lining has it's cloud, can I be yours?"

I learned a few things from my little adventure through the internet:

1) Tat are English (Very important)
2) They're very down to Earth in person (Very cool)
3) Tatiana is very attractive :p
4) They may top my top 5 this week with a different song
5) This different song has a video, and it looks like this (and it would have been in my top 100):

I also found two interviews with them, one in video form, the other written, I'll show you the written one another time, but I'm going to leave you with the video inter'. Ladies and gentlemen, I present Tat!

Top 5 Songs (or Tunes) Week Starting 31/08

Yeah, I've gotten into some tunes and remixes this week (yesterday) ^.^

5. 10 Miles Wide - Escape the fate
I've had this song for about 2 weeks without actually knowing what it was called, and I feel really silly for not guessing :p this is only REALLY in my list because i accidentally listened to it too much and got it stuck in my head :p

4. Warrior's Dance - The Prodigy
I've always liked the prodigy (to some extent) and i guess it's the bass that REALLY makes this tune work, it's craaaazy :p

3. Mercury Summer (Nero vs Ohms Remix) - Fightstar
In answer to your question: no. This DOESN'T count as the same song appearing on two lists, because this is totally different to the original. It's a lot more...dancey. It basically just steals some snippets of lyrics and a teensy bit of tune then puts it's own tune in and makes it sound just as awesome as the original (: short lesson for you.

2. Showdown - Pendulum
"It's been such a long time coming, I thought you'd understand" and then we kick off into the most amazing tune I've heard over the past few days. I've always loved Slam by these guys (who are surprisingly Australian, even though they're based in the UK) and I thought that nothing would equal it. I was wrong (:

1. Summer, Man - Taking Back Sunday
Ahh, you didn't expect for an actual song to make it into number one did you? Well, here you go, Taking Back Sunday make it back for...is it the third time now? Well, I believe that makes them the band to have the most number ones so far then. Anyway, it's about the summer ending, so it's pretty relevant, even though I like it for the tune and the lyrics and didn't notice until just now :p Loving it.

(by the way, I couldn't be bothered to proof check these, I just copied them. In the case that they're wrong, please call me, I'm open weekdays from 10am-8pm)

yeah,i played dead, immersed
in that technicolour kind of black and white type,
counting one, two... seven through the roof
if my lady only knew how high i am,
i am tonight

i crack open the safe myself, nine,
fourty-five, twenty-two, june until september,
three months 'til december

the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."

'cause i ain't working for you anymore,
no, i ain't working for you anymore,
so go prove to the world what you
already proved
that you just couldn't do on your own.

let's have a talk about the good times
but you were always giving in
let's have a talk about the good times
boy, you were only giving in

the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."
the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."

let's have a talk about the good times
but you were always giving in
let's have a talk about the good times
boy, you were only giving in to...

the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
be seeing you around.

the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."
the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."
the summer is over
and i doubt,
i doubt i'll be seeing you around.
"i'll be seeing you around."

Top 5 Songs (week starting 10/08/09)

This week, all five of my songs are from my new warped tour album. However, this WONT last. I got my new phone today (will post about it tomorrow) which allows me to have unlimited music downloads. Expect things to get seriously mixed up.

5. Institution - Pour Habit
This song provides the hectic pace and almost random beats you'd expect for a song called institution, and has an amazing guitar solo to boot. Nice.

Can't even find any lyrics to this :P

4. Come Around - Sing it Loud
Ahh, another lovey-dovey song (kind of) about a guy asking a girl to "come around". I don't really know why these tunes really attract me so much :s However, it's a cool song. Standard.

Good Lyrics:
"i'm all tied up
and i'm trying my best to get down
come on girl
come around, come around
i'll wait up all night just to see you move "

3. Friends in the Armed Forces - Thursday
Thursday are an amazing band. I used to be really into a song by them called "tomorrow I'll be you." To be honest, this song isn't AS good, but I've been listening to it all week, it's just something about their style that gets me...

Good Lyrics:
"There's a purple heart on the stars and stripes tonight"

2. America Underwater - Lovehatehero
The intro tune had me on this one. It sort of turns into some kind of anthem from there on, it's hard to explain. In that sense, it kind of draws you in with these "words of wisdom."
Long story.

Good Lyrics:
"On my own
Never been more afraid to leave
Our love has gone
Hand in hand, and we'll sing this song
We've lost our homes
It's only gonna get better
If we work as one
Tomorrow can be brighter for us all"

1. Eva the Carrier - A Skylit Drive
This is the most powerful song on my list and I still haven't decided if the singer is a boy or a girl (I'm leaning towards boy). Maybe it's both. . . Anyway, it's pretty much the only song in the list where I actually WANTED to listen to what they were saying and didn't just listen along for the sake of it. Doesn't say a lot for this week's list does it?

"I would like to inform you that I have lost to my worst enemies
Try to live frozen in time
Eva! Eva!
Break all of my will to survive
Eva! Eva!
It seems to me that you have something to prove

It's your time to own up to the false foundation under my arm
Pictures bring clarity to what it's meant to be

Going that last mile
Now that isn't your smile

You mustn't open your mind to what you believe
Please tell me that this is for real
Won't you shine your light on me?
Don't say that you want me
Please tell me that this is for real
I just might say someday
I could be better off in your mind

Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you
Hey baby, do you see me cause I'm staring at you
Hey baby, I want you I want you alive
Come sit next to me
Can you see into my mind?

Going that last mile
Now that isn't your smile

You mustn't open your mind to what you believe
Please tell me that this is for real
Won't you shine your light on me?
Don't say that you want me
Please tell me that this is for real
I just might say someday
I could be better off in your mind

Smile forward
I've been trapped in the fiction of a fraud
It isn't over until I get what I deserve
It's what I deserve

You mustn't open your mind to what you believe
Please tell me that this is for real
Won't you shine your light on me?
Don't say that you want me
Please tell me that this is for real
I just might say somedayI could be better off in your mind"

INTERESTING FACT: People seem to think this song is based on Wall-e (What the fuck?)

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 03/08)

Has been a longgg week. Am glad to get these up (: Four of these are from my new warped tour album and the other is from another warped tour album, anyone who can guess without looking it up will get a prize (GUESS!). By the way, I've taken to putting my favourite favourite lines in bold :p

5. Let the Games Begin - Anarbor
This song came up pretty late in the week, which is why it's at the back. Is another of those cocky songs about people who think they can "get it", like my favourite song. Unlike my favourite song, this guy actually is getting it, even though the girl has a boyfriend :s (I have my suspicions about the guy in "the new black", my interperetation is that he just thinks he's cool, like me :p

Good Lyrics:
"It's a game, she's to blame
But who's keeping score?
I'm not in it to win
You can tell by my grin
That I've done this before
So let the games begin
Yeah, let the games begin "

4. We Both Know - Ivoryline
This was the first song I got hooked on from my new warped tour album, right from the first line. I was originally a bit iffy about the chorus, but I got into it quite quickly. not many lyrics because it was more about the attitude conveyed by the vocals and instruments :)

Good Lyrics:
"We both know you can't plan
Something as real as this
It takes more than plans to feel like this"

3. Pessimist - Tat
I love this song because it's so delightfully blunt. Probably one of the punkiest songs to hit my list in a long time. The lyrics are probably the best part of this song, so expect to read quite a few of them (:

Good Lyrics:
"A pessimist you can call me I'll be round,
To bring you down.
My friendship's overrated I've been crowned,
Queen for letting you down.
Give me your heart I'll give it back,
All battered and torn.
Cos' every silver lining has it's cloud,
Can I be yours?"

"[Chorus]
And I'll Sit on your face and say,I love you
And leave you the next day,
For someone who owes you,
And you...
Put you trust in me,
To discover no less than a twist in sobriety.
And when you need me the most,
I'll be pissed off my face or stoned and I'll be loving it.
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah,
You can count on me,
Yeah."

"Here I am you prized and weighted catch,
I've been found faulty.
Just give me a chance I'll stab you in the back,
Please put your trust in me.
I am the itch you can't scratch,
Here try this dagger.
Put your trust in me,
Put your trust in me,
Put your trust in me,
Put your trust in me."

2. My Mannequin Can Dance - Matchbook Romance
This WAS the hot favourite for number one on my list. I started off this week in quite a spiteful mood before settling back into my better "holiday" mood. This song suited that mood very well, not because it's a spiteful song, just because some of the lines were exactly what I wanted to hear. Good lyrics, good tune, good song.

Good Lyrics:
"We're all eyes
And in my personal opinion
If we're not all you were hoping for
When you say my name
Say it like a curse"

"I saw your face in the magazine saying "I can't hear it"
All the girls all glittered and glossed
Screaming "we can feel you", can you feel me?
We'll die if we're not
In a corpse of conscience
Lie
These lies live a life
But don't lie to me"

"You're just chasing shadows
Show us some heart and confess your sins
We'll sing with arms closed
And you can tear us apart 'cause you won't break the skin

Just put on your face and..."

"I would love nothing more in the world
Than to watch you as you spill your guts. "

1. Two Birds Stoned at Once - Chiodos
Chiodos' third appearance on my list I believe. Quite impressive, because I only have three songs by them :) This song had me hooked from the start with some fairly epic violins, then unhooked me with some lovely screaming. I returned to the song a few days later and listened to it the entire way through, and it has some AMAZING lines. Chiodos always grab me with their songs because their style is like nothing else that I have. Awesome.

"so, here i am again.
both of my eyes so, open wide and gleaming.
blank stares, with races running only an inch behind.
sit back and watch the pavement get closer as it aims for your face.
as it aims for your face.

so step back, let me take over.
step back, let me take over.

can you hear the silhouettes?
the slim and dark figures.
rising like giants out of the shadows.
they're crawling out.
they're crawling out of our skin.

here i am again.
we build ourselves, where monsters used to hide.

so step back, let me take over.
so step back, let me take over.

and we're all whores, some of us just get paid.

oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity,
my feelings crawl the walls,
they crawl the walls, and finally fall,
they finally fall,
like empires and old loves.

can you hear the silhouettes?
the slim and dark figures,
rising like giants out of the shadows,
they're crawling out,
they're crawling out of our skin

(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)
oh, how we celebrate the mediocrity
(let me take over)"

Top 5 Songs (week starting 27/07)

Quite a few repeats this week, and all bands you've seen before, but quite an impressive list all the same :)

5. Deathbed - Relient K

The longest song on my playlist at over 11 minutes long. The title kind of sums it up, it's a guy on his deathbed. I only really like the chorus, which is right here:

"I can smell the death on the sheets
Covering me
I can't believe this is the end

I can hear those sad memories
Still haunting me
So many things I'd do again

But this is my deathbed
I lie here alone
If I close my eyes tonight
I know I'll be home"

4. Walk on Water or Drown - Mayday Parade

This song probably suits my mood quite well. Mayday Parade are quite good at suiting my mood, this is one of my favourite songs by them, I've known it for agesss. You'll see what it's about in the lyrics, good song...

Good Lyrics: "Well, this hurts me more than I can stand to say in just one sitting"

"Oh, and everybody knows this is the part
Of breaking down in anybody's arms"

"As I'm looking to the sky to count the stars
I wonder if you see them where you are"

"[Chorus]
And then I fell into pieces and she fell into me
Saying, "Play me a song
It's been too long since I've heard you sing."

And yeah, we all fall to pieces
But at least you fell to me
But this is a wrong night
Tell me goodnight and let it go"

3. The Ransom - Escape the Fate

This came up to suit my mood earlier this week, something came up that I really took a bitter approach to, this was a very good sound track to suit. Any veterans of my blog might just remember that this song came up in my second ever list, just thought you'd like to know...

Good Lyrics:

"Sending shivers right down your spine"

"[Chorus]
Quick
We have the ransom
Tell me how that you can swim
When ropes are wrapped around your limbs
Below
There's no more chances
So tell me now if you can swim
When ropes are wrapped around your limbs"

"I know you'll never change so please just hold on"

"There is a fine line between betrayal and your friends "

2. The Bird and the Worm - The Used

This song (along with my number 1) has been very consistant lately. It's moving it's way up my favourite songs list and I'd say it's probably in my top 10, possibly even my top 5. I love the line at the end of the chorus "To save his life, He crawls like a worm from a bird", I feel it suits me quite well :)

1. The New Black - Every Time I Die

I think that this has just become my favourite song. I don't know, my favourite songs tend to suit me, Adalia by Madina Lake highlighted my relationship with Ellen, so that became my favourite song back then. Call if you want to by The Riverclub was upbeat yet lonely, again, suiting me. The New Black is cocky, and about knowing who you are, even if you aren't such a great person, and I love it.

I looked up Every Time I Die yesterday and discovered that I really don't like any of their other songs. I guess they just hit it off with this one, awesome vocals that don't scream too much, cheeky little guitar riffs, cocky drums, verrrry good combination. I also found the video, which I like quite a lot. Unfortunately it's too late to add it to my list so I'm just gonna post it for you here:

Love the ending and what's going on next to the pool :p

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 20/07)

It's been a pretty hefty week in terms of music, because I now have an official playlist, there were 597 songs to choose from. Luckily, five jumped out almost immediately and another three jumped out later on, so we have a less confusing list.

5. Private Eye - Alkaline Trio

This song has some of the best lyrics I've come across in a long time. It's about a guy who's stalking his ex to find some evidence that she was cheating on him or something. It's a bit sick in the head, but it's pretty cleverly written.

Good Lyrics:
"I dragged this lake looking for corpses
Dusted for prints, pried up the floorboards
Pieces of planes and black box recorders
Don't lie"

"New year's eve was as boring as heaven"

"But at the right place at the right time
I'll be dead wrong and you'll be just fine
And I won't have to quit doing fucked up shit
For anyone but me
And at the right place at the right time
It will have been worth it to stand in line
And you won't have to stop
Saying "I love cops" for anyone but me
Your private eye"

4. Little White Lies - Fastball

This song's a bit different to the stuff I normally listen to. Catchy beat, cool lyrics. It kind of applies to me too. The meaning's pretty obvious.

Good lyrics: "I saw you yesterday
I was not phased, I did not care
You turned and walked away
As if I was not there"

"I tell myself these little white lies, these little white lies
Like I don't miss you
I tell myself these little white lies, these little white lies
Like I don't love you
I tell myself these little white lies, these little white lies
Like I don't miss you you
I tell myself these little white lies, these little white lies
And I just walk around
With my eyes closed "

3. Keep Your Hands Off My Girl - Good Charlotte

This song has become really catchy to me (it was before, then I hated it). The big that got it into the list is just after the second chorus, it adds a whole new dimension to the song, and it goes like this:

"She, she, she don't wanna talk about it,
He, he, he wants to fight about,
Me, me, I don't wanna fight about it,
I just wanna be about it,
I'm just trying to stay about it,
Step out the wagon,
You know the boy starts to hate,
The girl that came with him,
They like that's not the boy she dates,
They get the fighting and swearing,
And now the boyfriend is staring,
The disco ball on the ceiling,
Looks like the chain that I'm wearing"

2. Coffee Shop Soundtrack - All Time Low

This song's pretty much me settling back into punk and my warped tour stuff. I was just half listening to this and a few lyrics ("flavour of lips", you'll see in a sec) really shone through. So I listened to the song again and really got into it. Good stuff.

Good Lyrics:
"I can keep a secret
If you can keep me guessing
The flavor of your lips
Is enough to keep me pressing"

Amazing.

1. Jamie All Over - Mayday Parade

I've been listening to this song every night on repeat. FACT. It is quite possibly the most emotionally powerful songs I have ever heard, in a good way. It all sounds so perfect, it's a shame it was just a dream. When I hear this song, it's presented so well that I can really imagine and partly feel how he feels for this girl. It'll be the closest thing to being in love for me for a hell of a long time. He savours every minute of their time together, I wouldn't know, all I've had is cheap thrills and school boy crushes...But still, this song is just so, so lovely, you'd have to listen to understand. Standard.

"I had a dream last night
We drove out to see Las Vegas
We lost ourselves in the bright lights
I wish you could have seen us
Begging for change to get home
Or at least San Francisco
Let's put a ten on the high card
And spend a summer on the West Coast

You wore the red shirt that I love
I sang the song that I wrote you
We laughed our way down the beaches
As we dance around the issue

Down and to the left
(Here's the map and the pen; the place you pointed at)
Be California's best
(Still it lasts, still it lasts)

And please don't tell me that I'm dreaming
When all I ever wanted was to
Dream another sunset with you
If I roll over when it's over
I'll take this Cali sunrise with me
And wake up with the fondest memories

We made love by the ocean
As the waves crashed around you
Sunsets never were so bright
And the skies never so blue
You opened up into my arms
And we laughed as I held you
I'll never go back to Georgia
Not at least till I have to

Down and to the left
(Here's the map and the pen; the place you pointed at)
Be California's best
(Still it lasts, still it lasts)

And please don't tell me that I'm dreaming
When all I ever wanted was to
Dream another sunset with you
If I roll over when it's over
I'll take this Cali sunrise with me
And wake up with the fondest memories
Memories

I had a dream last night
We drove out to see Las Vegas
We lost ourselves in the bright lights

And please don't tell me that I'm dreaming
When all I ever wanted was to
Dream another sunset with you
If I roll over when it's over
I'll take this Cali sunrise with me
And wake up with the fondest memories

We made love by the ocean
As the waves crashed around you
(Memories)
Sunsets never were so bright
And the skies never so blue
(Memories)
You opened up into my arms
And we laughed as I held you
(Memories)
I'll never go back to Georgia
Not at least till I have to

Down and to the left"

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, it's fairly obvious that it comes to an end :)

INTERESTING FACT: Mayday Parade was actually formed from two bands, one called Kid Named Chicago and the other called Defining Moment. This song was originally written by Kid Named Chicago but Mayday Parade half-covered (you know what I mean) it for their album.

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 13/07)

We're still working off my makeshift playlist because I only made my proper playlist last night, so we're gonna have a few repeats here. I kind of think this list tells a teensy story, but then again, I'm quite a sad person.

5. Omen - The Prodigy

This isn't quite the story, this can be the theme tune. I just needed a good pace and tune to keep my brain going i suppose. Good track for walking to (y) I can't believe I just did that...

4. Never take us alive - Madina Lake

Madina Lake (I love them!) possibly their best song on the second album? Maybe. It's about some kind of battle. In the case of my "story" it can be an internal one.

3. MakeDamnSure - Taking Back Sunday

This one kind of speaks for itself (obviously you'd have to listen to it). It's really been there since two weeks ago, I just decided not to mention it last week :p

2. Monsters - Matchbook Romance

Ok, serious time now. I've considered adding this to the list for a long time, but it never quite made the cut. I guess 2 is a fairly reasonable position. I like it because of the clapping, it adds this weird sensation to the track that really brings out the meaning of them using the word "we", as if there are loadsssss of them. This adds to my "story" because we all face monsters.

Good Lyrics: "[Chorus]
we are
we are the shaken
we are the monsters
underneath your bed
yeah
believe what you read
we are
we are mistaken
we are the voices
inside your head
yeah
believe what you see"

"it came as no surprise
you bring me back to life
believe me
you bleed for me
i'll bleed for you
i caught you walking through walls
drowned with applause
from the world that makes me crazy"

1. Move Along - The All American Rejects

This song actually kicked in on the Saturday morning after my last top 5 :p On the bus to Hemel. It just makes sense to me, I pretty much needed something to kick me into gear. The end of the story is that we move along, I need to move along. The all american rejects are one of the bands I've liked for a longggg time, three years at least. However, this is probably the song that'll apply to me more than any of their others, and I take it very seriously.

"Go ahead
As you waste your days with thinking
When you fall, everyone stands
Another day
And you've had your fill of sinking
With the life held in your

Hands are shaking cold
These hands are meant to hold
(Speak to me)

When all you gotta keep is strong
Move along, move along
Like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along
Just to make it through
Move along
Move along

So a day
When you've lost yourself completely
Could be a night when your life ends
Such a heart
That will lead you to deceiving
All the pain held in your

Hands are shaking cold
Your hands are mine to hold
Speak to me

When all you gotta keep is strong
Move along, move along
Like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along
Just to make it through
Move along

(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong
We move along
(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
When everything is wrong
We move along
Along, along
Along, along
Along, along

When all you gotta keep is strong
Move along, move along
Like I know you do
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along
Just to make it through (x2)

When all you gotta keep is strong
Move along, move along
Like I know you do
(Know you do)
And even when your hope is gone
Move along, move along
Just to make it through
Move along

(Go on, go on, go on, go on)
Right back what is wrongWe move along (x4)"

Top 5 Songs! (Week Starting 06/07/09)

It's been a pretty dramatic week in terms of my top five, but I think this'll do :)

5. All That I've Got - The Used

I really like the little tinkly guitar bits of this song :p It's pretty cool. I used to be in love with this song a few years back. It's all very good, and has that emotional power that the used can do :p It's actually about Bert's puppy (named "David Bowie") who was hit by a car and died. Interesting times.

Good Lyrics: "So deep, that it didn't even bleed and catch me
Off guard, red handed"

"Hit me and knock me out
And let me go back to sleep"

"[Chorus]
I'll be just fine
Pretending I'm not
I'm far from lonely
And it's all that I've got "

"I guess, I remember every glance you shot me"

"So deep that I didn't even scream "fuck me"

4. From Yesterday - 30 Seconds to Mars

At first I loved this song, then I grew to hate it. Then it came back, and here we are :) However, I have always loved the video, you'll see it sometime (hint hint). It's cool how they have that sort of quietness and then it sounds as if they're really giving it their all. I don't really like any of the lyrics though. Shame.

3. Promise - Eve 6

Yes, it did better than even I expected, Ant shall be pleased :) I like this song because it reminds me a lot of Alkaline trio and that group of bands, yet it has some pretty cool lyrics. Don't care about meaning, look at the lyrics :P

Good Lyrics: "I spit and stutter,
stuff and clutter
worries in my worried corner
maladjusted,
just untrusted,
rusted,
sometimes brilliant, busted thoughts.
Think I'll stay for a while
I'm intrigued and I'm
red as a newborn, white as a corpse."

"I promise not to-try not to-fuck with your mind.
I promise not to mind if you go your way and I go mine.
I promise not to lie if I'm looking you straight in the eye.
I promise not to-try not to-let you down."

"Why you gotta keep the fan on high when it's cold outside?
Just wanna let you know that I'm still a fan, get it?"

2. The New Black - Every Time I Die

Recordddd! This is the first song to be posted three times. Although it's not made it to number 1 yet, it's fast becoming one of my FAVOURITE songs =D So I'm gonna post all the lyrics and seriously recommend it!

"Baby, you got me all wrong
And maybe I am not at all down and out
I'm high and I'm in

Don't you know who I am?
I'm the jaded one with pop insensitivity
When I finish struggling,
We can make our way to the dance floor and stand like strangers
In an elevator stuck between stories
I always find myself in the middle of your stories

With the cameras as a witness I will suffer
With the cameras as a witness I will suffer

If everything I do is wrong
Then by God I'll do it right [x4]

We don't dance no no no
We got class
No we don't have any fun at all
It's the new style and we know it
We're not stunning, we're just stunned

We're lying for a living
We're lying for a living

Don't you know who I am?
I'm the real thing with the low-key sensibilities
I don't need what I've got half as much as everyone covets it

Well if loving me is wrong,
Then god damn you do it right
Well if loving me is wrong,
Then god damn you do it right

It turns us on,
To turn you down
We're turned on,
To turn you down"

1. Finders Keepers - You Me At Six

Although all the other songs on my list changed this week, this song remained the same throughout, I love the way it's sung. It's amazing. I was listening to it on repeat for a while. It's the way they vary their songs so no two song is similar, it's great. Well deserved second number one for one of my favourite bands.

You've got a nerve
Giving me the cold shoulder
Giving me the twice over, that's not deserved.
And we'll talk, again when you're sober
You said I've got cold and our heat has gone
I wanna be your eyes so you can see what you've done
I wanna be your ears so you can hear everything that's been missing

Finders keepers
Will you keep me in mind
I like secrets
'Cause they keep me in line
Old habits die hard
But I'm too young to die

I guess it's a mess
That you make your bed
So why are we still laying in it
And I could barely sleep
I could barely eat
And it's been three whole weeks since I heard you speak
So hard to take that eight months was built to break
Oh I love mistakes
Especially ones you've made
(I bet you're sorry)

Finders keepers
Will you keep me in mind
I like secrets
'Cause they keep me in line
Old habits die hard
But I'm too young to die

Finders keepers
The whole thing is a lie
You won't find her
'Cause she's too hard to find
Take my advice and boy run a mile

And have another drink
And then think this one over
You dig yourself a grave every day you're sober
Do you see what I mean?
Have your best interest written all over me
I could never be what you need.

Finders keepers
Will you keep me in mind
I like secrets
'Cause they keep me in line
Old habits die hard
But I'm too young to die

Finders keepers
The whole thing is a lie
You won't find her
'Cause she's too hard to find
Take my advice and boy run a mile

And I bet you guess me right
(You guess me yes you guessed me right)
I bet you guess me right.

The Wednesday Lunchtime Post

Surprise! A post during the day! Wow!

Lately I've not been sleeping great and my alarm clock is malfunctioning (which doesn't help), so I've not been able to get up early enough to head into school and finalize my CV (references). I'm actually wishing I was tired so I can go to bed at a (fairly) reasonable hour.

In the past two days, my top 5 has taken a few dramatic twists, and this week could be the first time a song is posted THREE times!!! It's a shame, because I thought I had it sorted by Monday, but everything's gone a bit woooo.

I think this is week three of my holiday. To be honest I've totally lost count. Everyone's going on holiday now. Eleanor in Arizona, Karolina in Poland, Anna in Ireland. Billy's off to Turkey later as well. I was so glad when Emily came back from her walk for the Duke of Edinburgh thing, I think it'll be kinda cool to know someone with a silver award :)

So, what's next in my magical holiday experience? Things aren't going great at the moment, but I'm taking it all on the shoulder because I know I've got too much time to be bothered by little things. I hope it's just an iffy day...

Stay tuned for: The start of my top 100 music videos!!!

Top 5 Songs! (Week Starting 29/06)

This week's been a bit hectic really. I'm still on the spare, and I've lost another playlist so I'm gonna have to remake it (AGAIN!). So I made a really basic 17 song playlist to keep me occupied, am I bored of it, no, it's AWESOME! So before I write my top five (which is a real heavyweight list), I'd like to mention the other twelve:

Situations - Escape the Fate
Ashes, Ashes - Hidden in Plain View
Last Train Home - Lostprophets
Adalia - Madina Lake
Monsters - Matchbook Romance
Helena - My Chemical Romance
Misery Business - Paramore
Don't Bury Me . . . I'm Still Not Dead - Riverboat Gamblers
Face Down - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
All That I've Got - The Used
Save It For the Bedroom - You Me At Six
Under Pressure - The Used and My Chemical Romance
Miserable at Best - Mayday Parade

Now, are you sitting comfortably? Good. Then I shall begin.

5. The Fantasy - 30 Seconds To Mars

I used to listen to this song on repeat back when I first heard it, that's how much it threw me. I love 30 seconds to mars, I have their first album on CD (how retro am i? :P). There is a lot of contradiction to what this song's about, and to be honest, I don't care what it's about because it's just an amazingly mesmerising song.

Good lyrics: "do you live?
do you die?
do you bleed?
for the fantasy"

4. The Ghost of You - My Chemical Romance

This song was one of the late comers to my playlist, I just thought "why not?" and here it is :p My chemical romance's songs used to have really powerful choruses, and I love them to bits. It's quite obviously about a dead relationship. He uses death as explanation quite a lot, for instance, he says "she dies", meaning the moment the lies were uncovered, she was dead to him. It's so powerful, check it out.

Good lyrics:"at the end of the world
or the last thing i see
you are never coming home, never coming home
could i? should i?

and all the things that you never ever told me
and all the smiles that are ever gonna hug me
never coming home, never coming home
could i? should i?

and all the wounds that are ever gonna scar me
for all the ghosts that are never gonna catch me
if i fall, if i fall down"

"and i remember now
at the top of my lungs, in my arms
she dies, she dies"

3. Everchanging (acoustic) - Rise Against

Yes, it's back! This song is in my list because after two days without a computer OR music, I woke up with this song in my head. It's because my life IS everchanging (in the most improbable ways) and my latest twist has left me staring "in the face of change" I just hope the rest of the line doesn't apply to me.

Important Lyrics: "In the face of change,
that's when she turned to me and said
"i'm not sure anymore"

"have you ever been a part of something
that you thought would never end
and then of course it did"

"and now the lines are drawn
is this feeling gone?
the best parts of this have come and gone"

2. Johnny Sniper - Enter Shikari

This song is one of my favourites, because it sounds so positive. There are two meanings: the title and the lyrics. The title is based on a sex education character who had a sniper rifle that fired condoms or "johnnies", whenever a couple were going to have unprotected sex he'd fire a "johnny" onto the end of his penis (just trying to be scientific) :p Good story. The lyrics are about saving the planet. Thought I'd be blunt about that, you'll see in the lyrics.

Good Lyrics: "So this is a quest to save the world,
And He'll always be here for another,
Another day, Another chance to rescue"

"Hey Johnny!
Way to save the world!
Way to save the world!
Way to save the world!
Way...to save...the world!"

"This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive,
This is all i need to feel alive"

1. MakeDamnSure - Taking Back Sunday

The second band to get two number ones! woooo! This is from the album that I actually own (Louder Now, it's track 3, I know that off by heart) I've always loved it. This song very much relates to my life right now, in fact i used to listen to it before, it has ALWAYS related to my feelings towards a certain relationship. It's about a girl that the narrator likes, but he thinks that he's wayyyy out of her league...It's amazing how my life happens.

"You've got this new head
Filled up with smoke
I've got my veins all tangled close
To those jukebox bars you frequent
They're the safest place to hide

A long night spent with your most obvious weaknesses
You start shaking at the thought
You are everything I want
Because you are everything I'm not

And we lay, we lay together
Just not too close, too close
(How close is close enough?)
And we lay, we lay together
Just not too close, too close
(How close is close enough?)

I just wanna break you down so badly
I trip over everything you say
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way

My inarticulate store bought
Hangover hobby kit it talks
It says 'You, oh, you are so cool'
Scissor shaped across the bed
You are red, violent red
You hollow out my hungry eyes
You hollow out my hungry eyes

And we lay, we lay together
Just not too close, too close
(How close is close enough?)
And we lay, we lay together
Just not too close, too close
(How close is close enough?)

I just wanna break you down so badly
I trip over everything you say
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way
I just wanna break you down so badly
I trip over everything you say
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way

I'm gonna make damn sure
That you can't ever leave
No you won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far from me
I'll make damn sure
That you can't ever leave
No you won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far from me
You won't ever get too far

I just wanna break you down so badly
I trip over everything you say
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way

I'm gonna make damn sure
I just wanna break you down so badly
I just wanna break you down so badly
In the worst way"

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 22/06)

Yes, while I'm doing all my other lists I have taken to time to bring you another five this week. Surprisingly, only one song has found it's way through from my top 48, which is quite impressive considering I've been listening to it for most of the week.

5. A Shot In the Dark - Playing With Matches

None of you will have heard of this unless I've sent it to you. It's one of my favourite songs of all time, I like it so much, that it's my text message tune :p I don't know what it's about because that's how unknown it is lol. Also, no lyrics because like Adalia, you WILL see this song another time :P.

4. The New Black - Every Time I Die

Do we recognize this name? We certainly do, this song has just joined the "posted twice" club! I still love it's cockiness and even the can opening sound at the start suggests that It's relaxed. I love it!

3. Rooftops - Lostprophets

Ok, the list kinda starts here :p. I rediscovered this song while watching kerrang, and the video came on and I was like "oh, I like this song!". I used to listen to it on repeat back when it came out :p Apparently it's about living your life to the full and having no regrets. I don't care, check out some lyrics (there aren't many):

Good Lyrics: "Will we make a mark,
This time.
Will we always say we tried"

"Standing on the rooptops,
Everybody scream your heart out"

"Standing on the rooftop,
Waiting till the bomb drops,
This is all we've got now,
Scream until your heart stops,
Never gonna regret,
Watching every sunset,
Listen to your heartbeat,
All the love that we've felt."

2. Champagne - Cavo

Not sure where this song came from to be honest, I picked it up while looking for sink into me I think. Anyway, it popped up while I was having a case of (virtual) road rage. And it worked, I beat Jazmine's high score with this in the back ground. It's one of those songs that has a bit of adrenaline taped to the side. I think the meaning sort of speaks for itself (a relationship ending), but I'm not certain because I can't even find the lyrics, I'll just have a shot at posting the chorus :p

Good Lyrics:
"Could've been the champagne,
The champagne,
Could've been the cocaine,
The cocaine,
Could've been the way you looked at me,
That told me we were through,
Could've been a bad day,
A bad day,
Could've been the real way
The real way,
Could've been the way you looked at me,
That told me we were through"

1. Three Cheers For Five Years - Mayday Parade

It's about time these guys got a number 1 :p I've only started listening to this song lately, it carries a lot of their emotion and it's not their most emotional song (see miserable at best). It just caught my ears while my playlist did it's thing and like other mayday parade songs, it presents real emotion, maybe not as much as miserable at best (if ever i have a depressed week that WILL be number one) and obviously it's about a breakup (most likely after five years together on their anniversary) and apparently the guy thinks that things will be better after a month apart but because the girl cheated on him he just can't forgive her. There you go.

"I swear that you don't have to go
I thought we could wait for the fireworks
I thought we could wait for the snow
To wash over Georgia and kill the hurt
I thought I could live in your arms
And spend every moment I had with you
Stay up all night with the stars
Confess all the faith that I had in you
To late, I'm sure and lonely
Another night, another dream wasted on you
Just be here now against me
You know the words so sing along for me baby
For heaven's sake I know you're sorry
But you won't stop crying
This anniversary may never be the same
Inside I hope you know I'm dying
With my heart beside me
In shattered pieces that may never be replaced
And if I died right now you'd never be the same

I thought with a month of apart
Together would find us an opening
And moonlight would provide the spark
And that I would stumble across the key
Or break down the door to your heart
Forever could see us not you and me
And you'd help me out of the dark
And I'd give my heart as an offering

And I will always remember you as you are right now to me
And I will always remember now
Sleep alone tonight with no one here just by your side
How does he feel, how does he kiss
How does he taste while he's on your lips
I can't forget you
I know you want me to want you
I want to
But I can't forgive you
So when this is over don't blow your composure baby
I can't forgive you
I know you want me to want you I want to"

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 15/06)

Is it bad that I have to count backwards on my fingers to figure out what date this week started on? Anyway, here we are on my 10th song list! I've been doing some calculations and I've decided that I couldn't have possibly chosen a better week to celebrate this blog, it's amazing.

Also, before I begin this week, I'd like to announce my 8th follower! I was exited when I recieved the seventh (Jazmine you won't be pushed to the side because of this) but now I'm practically wetting myself with joy, in the manliest possible way of course. Thank you Ant, you've made this soldier happy again.

So cracking on, here are my top five songs for this week. Take a closer look when you're done, you'll notice that the bands are in alphabetical order (my playlist ignores "the"), I have trouble taking it seriously :p

5. Papercut Skin - The Matches

I adore The Matches, they used to be my favourite band, I had all their albums and everything. Needless to say, I moved on and they released a third album (I still think their first is the best). This is track 3 on album 2 (yes, I know it off by heart) and to be honest, it's not my favourite song by them, possibly on that album, but not in total. However, it's been the song i've heard most this week and so it narrowly squeezed in at five. Apparently it's about routine, and trying to make money, simple as. Some of the lines are really clever. Take a look.

Good lyrics: "Day out, day in
It's the alarm versus me
and the snooze button wins."

"Cash out, cash in
I can burn all I earn
on some weakness or whim
without thinking
I'm a mark for their marketing plans
I'm Americancer
A Myspace romancer"

"Give out, give in
If a man's hands show his trade does it suit me then
This papercut skin that makes me wince with each hand
I'm required to
shake, shake, shake, shake"

"[Chorus]
Day out, day in
recycle bins
cash out cash in
debit pins
Day out, day in
the paper cuts my skin again
skin again"

4. Helena - My Chemical Romance

99% of the people reading this blog will have heard this song, (maybe not Eleanor,) it's legendary. Certainly among the best on their best album in my opinion and by far their best video (don't argue with that). It's about Gerrard's grandma passing away, you can feel the emotion seeping from the song. I love the effect it gives off, it's just so powerful! Gets me everytime, if there was any song on this list I'd predict seeing here again, it'd be this one.

Good lyrics: "[Chorus]
What's the worst that I could say
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight
And if you carry on this way
Things are better if I stay
So long and goodnight
So long and goodnight"

3. For What It's Worth - Placebo

What the hell?! Placebo on MY list?! Yes it's true, I despise the guy's voice, it annoys me so much. The reason I like this tune is because the tune really makes up for what his voice does to my blood pressure, almost transforms it. It's so lively, I was shocked when i heard it. My favourite bit is the bit after the second chorus, with the little dinky tune *plays just after I write it* (yes, I do listen to the songs while I write about them:p). Awesome.

Good Lyrics: Ok, there are none, but the tune rocks, I promise.

2. Which to Bury, Us Or the Hatchet? - Relient K

Yes, they're back AGAIN, this song's moved up ONE PLACE from last week (woo!). I don't really need to post much about it because it's back, but the question remains, for how much longer will Relient K shove my beloved Madina Lake out of the way on my lists?! We'll find out who's actually winning soon...

1. The Bird and the Worm - The Used

Yes, you didn't think i was telling the truth about the letters did you? Go and check again, just in case :p I think four out of five new bands on my 10th list is pretty impressive. It's just when you think I'm settled, I suddenly bix things up a mit (couldn't resist:p)

The intro to this tune is so delightfully quirky that you just can't ignore the rest. The delivery of lyrics kind of add to the quirkyness, but all in all, it creates a song that isn't quirky, it creates a song that's AMAZING! The chorus is so powerful, it hits me pretty hard. the verses and lyrics in general sort of twist your musical imagination. It's amazing when you think about it. I found some really interesting meanings when I was checking out the sites for this song. Personally I agree that the person's trying to escape from himself (which is why his escape seems so slow and pointless "crawls like a worm from a bird"). However, check this meaning out:

"The more I listen to it, the more I feel it is about domestic violence from the abusee's point of view. "The Stranger's looks" could possibly be the public seeing the abusee's bruises and marks. He hangs on to his backpack as a focus of escape (his heart). When he sings about someone being "out of their mind" and "terrified of what's inside" it may be of the abuser and how he never knows what to expect from him/her. "To save his life, he Crawls like a worm" reminds me of escaping to dark place, like a closet. "All alone," in the closet, "He turns to stone," holds as still as possible, "holding his breath half to death," trying not to breathe to not be found. When he arives at home, the abuser remind him he is all alone (the deep, terrifying voice in the background)."

It's interesting how each person interperets a song isn't it? I'd love to see your comments about the songs I post on here. It'd be good =D

"He wears his heart safety-pinned to his backpack
His backpack is all that he knows
Shot down by strangers
whose glances can cripple the heart
and devour the soul

All alone he turns to stone
While holding his breath half to death
Terrified of what's inside
To save his life
He crawls like a worm from a bird

(all alone) Crawls like a worm from a bird

Out of his mind the way pushes him, whispering
Must have been out of his mind
Midday delusions of pushing this out of his head
Make him out of his mind (out of his mind)

All alone he turns to stone
While holding his breath half to death
Terrified of what's inside
To save his life
He crawls like a worm, crawls like a worm from a bird

(all alone) Crawls like worm from a bird (x2)
(all alone) crawls like a worm, crawls like a worm from a bird

All he knows
If he can't relieve it, it grows
And so it goes
He crawls like a worm, crawls like a worm from a bird

Out of his mind the way pushes him, whispering
Must have been out of his mind

All alone he turns to stone
While holding his breath half to death
Terrified of what's inside
To save his life
He crawls like a worm from a bird

All alone he's holding his breath half to death
Terrified to save his life
He crawls like a worm, crawls like a worm from a bird

(all alone) Crawls like worm from a bird (x2)
(all alone) crawls like a worm, crawls like a worm, crawls like a worm from a bird"

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 08/06)

Here I am, not so bright and very early to post my top 5 songs for this week. I have a busy(ish) day later on so I decided to give you all this sooner than later. Anyone paying any kind of attention to me this week will know for sure what my number 1 is this week, the big question is: what are the other four? I was slightly confused myself, as I'd been listening to it on repeat throughout :p

5. Sleepwalking - Blindside

Sleepwalking is a song that always seemed to hit me for no reason, the delivery is just that powerful I guess. OK, after looking up the meaning for the first time, it turns out that everybody in this world is sleepwalking, because they have not opened themselves up about Christianity or something, blegh. Point it, it sounds awesome.

Good Lyrics: Now here I am, but I'm just sleepwalking
Yes here I stand
But I guess I'm just sleeptalking for myself

4. Adalia - Madina Lake

People that know me well enough know for certain that this is one of my favourite, favourite songs, top 3 for sure. I like this song because as all madina lake songs go, the tune and the lyrics merge to create amazing music, and the lyrics themselves are amazing too. I have about four different versions of this song, and I can tell you exactly what's different about all of them. From the lyrics, the song sounds like it's about a girl who's a bit unstable but the guy loves her and will do anything protect her because she reminds him of him. This is just the single version, which also happens to be my ring tone :p I'm not going to post many lyrics to this, but I can assure you that you WILL see them another time. I'm just gonna leave it as this: "I'll be chasing dragonflies from her darkest skies until the day she dies" Beautiful :)

3. Which to Bury, Us or the Hatchet? - Relient K

Yes, it's Relient K AGAIN, I'm sure you're all getting bored of them now, but I recommend this song simply because it's much more grown up than other Relient K songs. It's the first song I heard by these guys and although it hasn't hit number one, it's still my favourite. It's so good, it actually makes a banjo sound serious.

Good Lyrics: "I think you know what i'm getting at
i find it so upsetting that
The memories that you select
You keep the bad but the good ones you forget"

"[Chorus]No, I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know I'll always love you
But right now i just dont like you
Know I dont hate you
Dont want to fight you
Know I'll always love you
But right know i just dont like you
'Cause you took this to far"

"Make your decision and dont you dare think twice
Go with your instincts along with some bad advice
This didnt turn out the way i thought it would at all
You blame me but some of this is still your fault

I tried to move you, but you wouldnt budge
I tried to hold your hand but you'd rather hold your grudge
I think you know what i'm getting at
You said good-bye and i just dont want you regretting that"

2. Teasing to Please (Left Side, Strong Side) - Cute Is What We Aim For

I've just noticed that 2nd, 3rd and 4th bands on this list have all hit number 1 spot at least once :p Anyway, I like this song because ONE LINE reminds me of me, and the rest in the chorus reminds me of the situation I seem to keep getting myself into. There are only bits and pieces of meanings spread around the internet, they just give away that the heart is on the left side (strong side) and that it's about a selfish guy who's in love with a selfish girl who "gives him a run for his money". Take a look for yourself.

Good Lyrics: "'Cause conflict and make your top pick
Restitch my ripped jeans
And take the old ones
Take the old ones out back
Sew them tight at the seams please
I've got so many ripped knees"

"[Chorus] I'm selfish as selfish comes
You're giving me a run,
For my money,
Honey"

1. Sink Into Me - Taking Back Sunday

This is day 6 of listening to this song on repeat :p This may leave you wondering: How did he find the other songs? well, I found numbers 4 and 5 a few hours ago when i decided to give my whole playlist a go, I discovered number 3 while playing Need For Speed (I have a stash of music on my brother's xbox) and I found number 2 just before I got hooked on this song. Anyway, I REALLY don't know how I got so hooked on this song, it has a lively tune I guess, and I adore the lyrics. I think it's about a guy who really likes a girl and the chorus is split into two parts: how much he likes her and how he's going about trying to get her. So far I've had about four different sets of lyrics from this song in my MSN screen name :p It is possibly the best thing I've ever heard by Taking Back Sunday (I have their old album) and I don't care who misses Fred (ex lead singer), I think Adam has proved his worth!

"Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Come on, tell me that you’re better
And you rather just forget
That things have gone so far
Yeah, tell me that you’re better
And you'd rather just forget
That things have gone too far

You're all I see,
Sink into me
Sharpen your teeth,
Sink into me
Sink into me (sink in, sink in)

I'd like to see our roles reversed
To watch you hang on every word
I'd like to see you have your way
I keep my grammar well rehearsed
Correct each stutter, every slur
Come on and have your way with me

Now tell me that you’re better
And you rather just forget
That things have gone so far
You tell me that you’re better
And you'd rather just forget
That yeah, things have gone too far

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

You're all I see,
Sink into me
Sharpen your teeth,
Sink into me
Sink into me (sink in, sink in)

Well, I'd like to see our roles reversed
To watch you hang on every word
I'd like to see you have your way
I keep my grammar well rehearsed
Correct each stutter, every slur
Come on and have your way with me
Come on and have your way with me

I'd like to be a note
The kind you could sing
But don't because you're shy
That way I'll live inside your throat
And hang from every word you spoke

Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

You're all I see,
Sink into me
Sharpen your teeth,
Sink into me
Sink into me (sink in, sink in)

I'd like to see you have your way
Come on, have your way with me
(Aim for every word you spoke)
I'd like to see you have your way
(Correct each stutter, every slur)
Come on, have your way with me
(Sink into me)

Top 5 Songs! (Week Starting 01/06/09)

I'd just like to announce before I give you this week's list that I was wrong about You Me At Six, they haven't been top of my list twice, Save it for the bedroom came 3rd and 4th I think. This is possibly the closest list ever, 2,3 and 4 were practically inseparable :p

5. Foster - April Sixth

I've been listening to this song today because someone beat my score on it on audiosurf, I had a crack at reclaiming my throne earlier, my original score was about 61,000, this other score was 63,000. I was a bit sloppy originally because the only score on the list was roughly 4,000. I was ready, on my first run i picked up 66,000. But I didn't want it to stop there. There's an award the neither of us had picked up that adds 30% to your score, after about an hour, I had it and my score was 92,000. Beat that.

I like this song because it has emotive power, it talks about being a homeless child, and taking parents for granted, and it really gets to me.

Good Lyrics: "To all the rest who have a mother and father,
Who have given them a home and a name.
Would check before you walk away like you don't need them,
'Cause some of us would kill just to have them for a day."

"Cause I'm fine (fine).
Livin' in the back streets,
Holding on to all that's mine.
Home just hasn't yet arrived,
For me."

"And along the way in a different world
Of a different time of a different man
You would come into the better years
The best years of your life."

"Well,
We might lead in a different world of a different time (different time)
But all that matters is that I'm alive.
Yeah I'm alive."

4. A Letter From Janelle - Chiodos
Yes, that's right: Chiodos make their return to my list, with a song sent to me by Emily. This song is clearly about a guy who's in a relationship and knows he is being played. The chorus is really effective, I love it.

Good Lyrics: "move with me, move with me. move with me, move with me"

"[Chorus] Don't you think I could tell you were trying to
trying to make
a fool out of me
a fool out of me

Don't you think I could tell you were trying to
trying to make
a fool out of me
a fool out of me"

=2. Remember to Feel Real - Armor For Sleep

Yupp, it's official. This is the first time that there's been a joint number of any kind on my fantastic list. These two songs were just too good to be seperated. I've been listening to this a lot in the past week as an attempt to inspire a verse in my latest set of lyrics. Apparently, it's about a guy considering his life after he's died, and how everyone was different around him. I don't care, have some lyrics :p

Good Lyics: "Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up in me
I'd wait it out for you
Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up in me
I'd wait it out for you"

=2. Everchanging (Acoustic) - Rise Against

Why not the original? Because this is better. It's slower, and the guitar doesn't fight the vocals. Because of the guitar just giving a tune instead of trying to impress people, the lyrics come through a lot stronger, and hit you harder. It's about a relationship between a guy and a girl that's been going on for a long time, then suddenly the girl isn't sure and the guy leaves before the girl breaks up with him.

Good Lyrics:"in the face of change
is when she turned to me and said,
"i'm not sure anymore...""

"have you ever been a part of something
that you thought would never end?
and then of course it did

have you ever felt the weight inside you
pulling away inside your skin?
and then something had to give

now the lines are drawn
is this feeling gone?
the best parts of this have come and gone
and now that is all this is"

"now something has kept me here too long and you can't leave me if i'm already gone"

"make the same mistakes we're always hanging onbreak the promises we're always leaning onall this time spent waking up"

"now something has kept me here too long and now i'm gone... "

1. Come Right Out and Say It - Relient K

Yes, this is officially the first band to top my list twice! and within three weeks too! I'm so exited :p It came on earlier this week and I've been searching through all my Relient K songs since. But here it is. I can't find any explaination of this song on my lyrics site, so I'm gonna have a crack at it: It's about a girl who deoesn't talk straight and is just vague. Probably about her feelings for him, and he asks her to just "come right out and say it", even if he doesn't like the answer. How's that?

"I better rest my eyes, 'cause I'm growing weary of this point you've been trying to make
So rather than imply, why don't you just verbalize all the things that you're trying to say?
Thought this would turn out so well
But I'm beginning to see that instead, It's trouble
Into a pattern we fell,
Of prolonging the inevitable

Why don't you come right out and say it?
Even if the words are probably gonna hurt,
I'd rather have the truth than something insincere
Why don't you come right out and say it? (Come right out and say it)
What it is you're thinking, though I'm thinking it's not what I wanna hear

I better check my pride, because I was starting to think that I was onto something good
But things started to slide and I sit here in retrospect, understanding that I misunderstoodT
hought I could make up your mind
You had a decision locked up so tight, it couldn't be touched
Thought you were being so kind
By keeping your mouth sealed shut, rather than just opening it up

Why don't you come right out and say it?
Even if the words are probably gonna hurt,
I'd rather have the truth than something insincere
Why don't you come right out and say it? (Come right out and say it)
What it is you're thinking, though I'm thinking it's not what I wanna hear

And I'll try to guess what goes on in your head
'Cause in your mind, I just might find all those things you left unsaid
And I'll try to make you not regret anything
But later on, after I'm gone,
You'll wish that you had listened to me
Had listened to me

Why don't you come right out and say it?
Even if the words are gonna hurt, we're better off this way
Why don't you come right out and say, come right out and say
What I know you're thinking anyway

Why don't you come right out and say it?
Even if the words are probably gonna hurt,
I'd rather have the truth than something insincere
Why don't you come right out and say it? (Come right out and say it)
What it is you're thinking,
oh, what is it you're thinking?

Why don't you?
What if is you're thinking, though I'm thinking it's not what I wanna hear"

Top 5 Songs! (Week Starting 25/05/09)

OK, I do have a good reason as to why I didn't post this on Friday, as I always should. I kind of thought it was Thursday and was thinking "what to post tomorrow..." all day. In fact, I only realized it was Saturday when I started posting and looked at the date in the corner of my screen. It's been a long, fantastic week (more about it all another time) and I lose track of days easily :p

So, here we are again. Another week, another 5 songs for you guys.

5. Emergency - Paramore

I found this during one of my paranoid moments with me sprawled across the computer desk with my earphones on. Sort of the first time the lyrics got through to me. It's a good song and it's come sixth a few times on my "top 5" list, but here it is, gloriously in fifth :p

Good Lyrics: "I've seen love die way too many times, when it deserves to be alive"

4. Keep On - Lightweight Holiday

This was one of the songs that hit me on my London day, it came on while i was standing at the Watford Junction platform, it kind of makes sense to me, so here it is!

Good Lyrics: "I'll take your word
You've fallen for him
(I guess that was selfish of me)
And oh by the way
What would you say
To you bein' mine someday"

"I'll drive for hours to your house
I know your inside thinking of me
For hours away"

"I wrote this song to communicate
When your locked in the trunk with your mouth taped shut
You're making it hard
to scream
You're making it hard
to leave"

3. Welcome To Oblivion - Madina Lake

My other London song. I was so tempted to put this song higher up, because I do love it, and you'll probably find it on this list again sometime. As always with Madina Lake, it's about lyrics, and the way they practically shape the tune around them. It's amazing.

Good Lyrics: "(Chorus)
Welcome to oblivion
Where panic starts to settle in
And I'm afraid of everything
Oh, I lost my head again
Welcome to oblivion
Where my whole life is caving in
And I can't stand who I am
Oh, I think I'm losing it
I lost my head again"

"Then I met you
You were standing all alone, because you felt it too
The world has broken you down
You and me are gonna make it through
Because now we know there's people like us"

2. The New Black - Every Time I Die

I listen to my music at night, and I think this song's played every night this week, and I like it. Interesting tune, pretty cool lyrics. It's been a contender for weeks.

Good lyrics: "Don't you know who I am? I'm the real thing with the low-key sensibilities"
"If everything I do is wrong, Then by God I do it right"
"If loving me is wrong, then God damn you do it right,"
"It turns us on to turn you down"

1. The Rumour - You Me At Six

I have a feeling that so far, You Me At Six are the only band to top my list twice, congrats :p I'm not really sure where it came from, but this week was the first time i really listened to the lyrics, and they made sense. It was the other song I heard during my paranoid moment, kinda sorted me out.

"Well I am the cancer running through your veins
I am the sweat dripping down the side of your face
I am the pain in the back of your legs, it makes you fall to you knees it makes you believe
And I am the headline, that's going to make front page news
I am that fashion that you're all into.

We had to try something different
We had to do something new
We had to make some heads turn
We had to put this to you

We had to try something different
We had to do something new
We had to make some heads turn
We had to put this to you

I am the rumour on everyones lips
I am the curse on your girlfriends hips.
We are the different so we'll make a start
Tell all your friends, oh sound the alarm.

I am that feeling, that you've done something wrong.
I am that friend , who knew all along.
We say we have our best friends yet we stab them in the back.
We try to show some love and , it's a skill that we lack.
I've had it with this crowd and I am done with this town.
I've had enough of these shows, its over with you now.

We had to try something different
We had to do something new
We had to make some heads turn
We had to put this to you

We had to try something different
We had to do something new
We had to make some heads turn
We had to put this to you

I am the rumour on everyones lips
I am the curse on your girlfriends hips.
We are the different so we'll make a start
Tell all your friends, oh sound the alarm.

Hold your hands in, into the air
Hold your hands as, as if you care (x2)

Hold your hands in, into the air
Oh hold on

Hold your hands in, into the air
Hold your hands as, as if you care (x6)

Josh

Behind your back, they talk about you all the time
Behind your back, they spread some shit, spread some lies"

Top 5 Songs (Week Starting 18/05/09)

Ok, I think this is more of a tunes than lyrics week, so stick with me on this one. It's not been that much of a music week, I've sort of been trying to devise a rough idea of my top 100 songs of all time in my head, for a blog anniversary or something. However, this is what I've got for this week:

5. Crash Romeo - Actions Not Words

Ok, actions not words is NOT a perfect song, I admit that now. The song doesn't really catch me much. BUT, there is this one line that hits me really hard. It goes "what've I done? What have I done to me?" I guess it kinda illustrates this whole ex situation (she tried speaking to me again yesterday) and what I became while i was with her...

4. Alkaline Trio - This Could Be Love

Alkaline Trio practically introducted me to rock, with a song called time to waste. It was one of the first rock songs i ever got into and I still love it. This could be love has this sinister appeal to it that manages to attract me :p

Good lyrics: "Step one -- slit my throat
Step two -- play in my blood
Step three -- cover me in dirty sheets and run laughing out of the house"

3. The All American Rejects - The Last Song

Three years ago, I found a song called "my paper heart", I fell in love with it, and borrowed The all american rejects' first two albums. I still think their first is their best, and this is one of the songs on it, it's also one of my fave music videos :p Why do i like it? nice lyrics, steady beat, amazing instrumental. Sorted.

Good Lyrics: "You wanted the best
It wasn't me
Will you give it back?
Now I'll take the lead
When there's no more room
To make it grow
I'll see you again
You'll pretend you're naive
Is this what you want?
Is this what you need?
How you end up, let me know"

"[Chorus]
As I go, remember
All the simple things you know
My mind is just a crutch
And I still hope
That you will miss me when I'm gone
This is the last song"

2. 3OH!3 - Colorado Sunshine

It's like some kind of techno, I think. What I know about it is that it has a really catchy beat :p and the chorus is catchy too, even though the lyrics to it aren't perfect. Stick with it if ever you listen to it because the intro isn't that great, it get's good after the first verse.

Good Lyrics: "And if i had something to say to you i'd whisper it softly,
kiss you on your rosey lips and never let you off me.
shiver on your roof and see your face lit by starlight,
hold you through the night and watch that colorado sunrise."

"and as long as it's okay with you i think i'll stay right here.
i got no where to go cuz where to go is up to you, dear.
happy as a clam i see the glimmer in your eyes.
hold you through the night and watch that colorado sunrise."

1. Relient K - In love With The 80s

I love this song, the tune catches me so easily and the lyrics are delightfully punky :p it also mentions the prom a lot, so i guess it relates back to that. Apart from that, it's awesome =D

"So it was jeremy in 1983,
In his ocean pacific t,
Who got a bloody knee,
On his skateboard,
In the halfpipe,
In the backyard,
That tuesday night.

And I'm only gonna pierce my left ear,
And I've been working on this mustache all summer long,
And my favorite band will always be tears for fears,
And I'm gonna wear a pink tux to the prom

Cuttin class through the next four window,
He's drivin fast cause he never did a thing slow,
And I look up to my big bro cuz in the eighties
all the ladies grabbed his hand
and couldn't let go.

And I'm only gonna pierce my left ear,
And I've been working on this mustache all summer long,
And my favorite band will always be tears for fears,
And I'm gonna wear a pink tux to the prom, a pink tux to the prom.

Do, do, do-do, do, do, Pink tux to the prom,
Do, do, do-do, do, do, Pink tux to the prom

I am gonna to wear a pink tux to the prom,
Live without a care, what can possibly go wrong?

When you're the president of the breakfast club,
And you're not hesitant to fall in love,
To fall in love, to throw it away,To fall in love with the eighties.

I am gonna wear a pink tux to the prom,
Live without a care, what can possibly go wrong?
I am gonna wear a pink tux to the prom,
Live without a care 'cause you threw it away to fall in love
With the eighties..

Do, do, do-do, do
Do, do, do-do, do
Do, do, do-do, do"
